Even I've noticed, because I've installed it on quite a few systems that anything less than 384 MB and Ubuntu starts spluttering.&lt;br/&gt;2. Use the main server for software sources; by default, when you choose time zone as India, it selects the India server. Even I used to get pathetic speeds. Switched to US servers, same problem. Main is still fine, although at time, the speed I get is in BYTES per second!&lt;br/&gt;3. I concur about the default apps. Kubuntu is much better in this regard, BTW. Maybe you should try THAT out, although it won't be smooth without 512 MB of RAM (personal experience, with desktop effects enabled).</description>
