Shifting to a new distro
I have survived with PCLinuxOS 2007 for 5 months at a stretch, without any problems, and I think that is an achievement. But a few days earlier, I tried to run a trainer using wine on my system. The effects were devastating. That stupid trainer contained some form of embedded malware in it, or a worm probably, which crumpled my system, and completely broke it down. The next time I logged into my system, everything was gone, all my customisation, icons, themes, docks, preferences and settings. I was viewing the default settings for PCLinuxOS. That was when I decided that it was time to move on, to a new distro.
This does not mean that I have abandoned PCLinuxOS completely. It still remains my favorite distro, and I cannot forget what it has given to me.
Now, to gear up myself a bit, I’m taking up a new challenge. I’m going to install Slackware as a secondary distro (primary would be Windows XP), try to configure it, and survive on it for a few months. Let’s see how I fare the challenge.
