@Anand

Well in this case they could not have refused to give me any warranty, because I had a proper cash memo with me which mentioned the date of purchase, and it was still within warranty. If you have a cash memo, you can threaten the shopkeeper.

I think u should have moved to US. US govt have policies to help customer. This shop person has changed your handset, while if you go to gaffar @ new delhi, they would kick u out if u want warranty.
I had experience with Gaffar mkt, they told me warranty for 6 months, but when I went back next day with problem, they refused to give any warranty. initially they refused to identify that they sold to me. There should be some laws in India for consumers right.... as there is in UK and US, and it should be fast.... so that customer should not feel heat. and shopkeepers should understand value of consumer.

The shop sucks to the core..

You ask them something over the phone , they just keep you transferring and in the end the product is not available. What a waste of time.

Basically if you buy components from Nehru Place you should be prepared to visit service centers yourself and in general run around. Shops in Nehru Place are like warehouses, not showrooms. That's why you get things cheap from there. At least you get the requisite warranties. Besides if you ask me it wasn't worth running around 6 hours in 38 degrees heat for a Rs. 500 headphone. This is why I myself buy Rs. 100 headphones and throw them away when they go bad ;)

This sounds like a stupid rant. Shouldn't Rashi Peripherals have replaced the headphones without asking anything.
I personally would never blame any shop in nehru place for service n all. They sell stuff too cheap to offer proper customer care. Plus, it is explicitly mentioned in the T&C that the after sales support will be handled by the service centers and not them.

Nope, it's not an issue with Altec Lancing. The people at Nehru Place just don't care about warranties and complaints from customers.

Each shop at NP gets >500 visitors each day. Even if half of them purchase goods worth Rs.1000 (and I'm sure most customers purchase much more expensive goods), the shop sells Rs.2,50,000 worth of goods. Even at a profit margin of 5%, they make about Rs.12500. Rs.12500 * 30 = Rs.375000. And this, I'm sure, is the absolute minimum profit any shop at Nehru Place makes.

Do they care about one customer whining about his headphones? I don't think so. To make them look up, you'll need to put a big dent in the number of customers shopping at Computer Empire.

Sound as if you've had a really bad experience, sorry to hear that, especially since it was with Altec Lansing. I love their products here in the USA.

Perhaps I should stop buying their products here if your issue is typical of overseas dealings.

Either you work with Computer Empire or you have been paid by them to write this.

Why can't I expect to get warranty? If they have a tie up with a company for products, then why not get a tie up for warranty too? Collect all the faulty products in the daytime, get them fixed/replaced at the end of the day or before opening tomorrow. When it comes back from the comoany, get it delivered to the customer's house.
