CBSE Chemistry Is Killing Me

I had allotted 6 days for the CBSE exam, 24th-29th February. It’s 26th already and I’m still stuck on the syllabus that I wanted to complete on the first day. I had planned that I would complete the chapters that I have never studied before first, and it was a fairly good strategy as it would ensure a decent score in the Boards. Here’s what I had chalked out -

24th February - p-block elements, d and f block elements.
25th February - Surface chemistry, General Principles and Processes of Isolation of Elements, Polymers, Biomolecules.
26th February - Haloalkanes and Haloarenes, Alcohols, Phenols and Ethers, Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic acids, Organic compounds containing Nitrogen.
27th February - Electrochemistry, Solid State, Solutions
28th February - Coordination Compounds, Chemistry in everyday life, Chemical Kinetics.

29th February - Revision, sample papers, previous years questions and clearing up doubts by mass-calling all friends.

Just gave up on d and f block midway, it was too much for me. I’ve gone through the NCERT but there are far too many paradoxes, contradictions and anomalies for me to go on. I’ll do what I did for my pre boards - cram up the conceptual and previous years questions from Pradeep’s New Course Chemistry. I’ve now started with Chemistry in Everday Life, because it doesn’t require any kind of understanding. Let’s see when I finish with my course.

P.S. - This post may also mark a hiatus in my blogging. I will try to post at nights, though.

  2. Yeah well, almost same with me. There seems to be almost no progress daily!

  3. You should have got Together. I’ve done all previous years’ questions from it and trust me, p/d/f is one of the EASIEST chapters. Only a handful of reactions have to be learned, and the properties are easy enough to learn.

It’s the Biomolecules/Everyday/Polymers that’s going to kill me. The damn chapters have just too much crap to mug up. Their very existence is pointless.
