I gave bitsat on 13th and got 330 marks.the paper was kind of a mix of aieee and iit-jee as some qus. were easy and some were quite tough.phy ,maths and eng.&L.R were much easier than chemistry.
ya ,its true that cut-off will drop as hyderabad campus is starting but they will not sink too much for good branches like cse,ece or mech.A score of 290+ will be a good score.

hi i gave bitsat on 14th may and i got 262 which is much too less compared to u guys but i was hoping if u could tell me whether i stand a chance. to be honest the people who are getting like 290+ are mostly future iitians. anyways thats just an observation ive made in my city.

i thnk the paper was a slight tougher. i am in bansal last year our seniours of the same batch got much more marks tha us . but no guy in the same now getting that much marks(350) so i think the cut-off of all branches will drop

@Aadit. I think the cutoffs should fall as the paper supposedly is tougher than last year and BITS Hyderabad campus is also opening. I think Dual Mech would be very much better career-wise than civil BE

@Rohan. Thats only a rumor. Information Systems is the course for communication. Electronics & Instrumentation is the one for electronics.

@sarvesh. yes, precisely

@Indrani. According to me, he’s just on the edge. He might and might not. Also depends on the Board results this year as 80% aggregate is a requirement.

@BABY. I don’t think it would go so low. It might be around 270-280 for good courses. And around 260 for low-level courses like Biological Sciences.

@nik. congrats. you might easily get your choice of course.

@ayush. thats not a good score according to me. you might get MSc’s though. Anyways, I’m no one to say that. BITSAT results might just surprise everyone. So keep hoping

@Rahul. I don’t think you will make it to the Pilani campus. You are just on the edge. If cutoffs fall too low, you might get into the Hyderabad campus as it is new.

@Rohan. The BITS brand would certainly matter. However, Hyderabad will always remain behind Pilani as Pilani is the original institution

@ABHISHEK. Chances are very slim. But you might.

@aritra. Yes, they must have been counted as wrong answers. You might get into MSc, but not BE.

@vardhan. I dunno about elec and comp. You might get into mech though. I say go for high-level courses in hyd than low-level ones in pilani.

@Ninad. I’ve already predicted the cutoff in the above post. There’s is a 0% chance of the cutoffs falling so low.

who would say that the guys selected for iits this year are the super brains! only tose had expensive coaching are being selected. i challenge how many of the selected come front if a test like cat is conducted for all the candidates who took iit jee 2008. many top scrers from kerala are not ntse scholars . but just repeaters who spent one year in coaching institutes . but bitsat measures the real mental ability.

ok the large misconception there is nothing as in 10% of the top coll…that is how just we say it at bits…that is u r suppose to get a gpa of min of more than 8.5+…..(isnt it rit ms.prena…if not ask ur brothers) which is nothing but comes around stastically to being 10% of the top scorers…in the first year

n important thing that u ppl must grasp here is that u dont get dual immediately dependent on ur bitsat score but u have to work ur asses of for the first year to secure a cgpa(that is a way of grading in bits n iit)…of miore than 8.5 of 10

n i wonder who the hell told u that every msc ppl get dual…that is so false…..
another trap here ppl…so only msc(hons) ppl r given a chance for dual. degree if u take msc(tech) courses …or bve. or pharmacy u wont be given an option so wen u fill ur preferences keep that in mind

if ppl still dont understand go look at the courses available at bits othe msc courses with (hons) written r the only once ofeered dual…so dont ever go for msc tech. only if u r desparate then do

n as for hyderabad…campus….prerna i agre with u that there is no way to compare bits with vit nits….but only the old bits campuses…

hyderabad has a completely new support system…….
the industrial base integration and support is low……

might be that hyderabad campus becomes the best campus in the country for bits or might even get the washington accords certification to grant it better than mit caltech stanford harvard…but that is mostly unlikely to happen in near future…..

I have nothing more to say. God save the person listening to your advice ! I only want to tell that check from BITS authorities about M.Sc dual system and don’t belive what these blogs say. All M.Sc not M.Sc (Tech) gets a dual degree. Which branch they get, depends upon their performance in First Year. This 10% talk is absurd and crap.

n as for 281…is a fine score apply for eng… courses u might get in for sure…but u might get hyderabad…..it completely depends on u whether u want to ggo ther or not

a similar thing happened last year but after the bitsat was over there were certain ppl whose scores were revised n most of those got an additional marks as they had expected…there is this guy salil in goa campus…he got so……
so just be hopeful

n ya a few important things…..261 is fine to get u msc….but not every1 gets a dual degre…..

u get a dual after ur first year…depending on wat u performed in ur first year at bits…..there r cutoffs then again charted out….depending on ur cgpa…u get a chance to do dual………n ya not very1 gets a dual….so be ready to stick to msc…if u dont get dual…………………
my advice dont gamble with ur life if u have a better option then msc…go for it…else if u have nothing else…then my frnd getin n work really har ur first year coz the best study at bits

n ya it is true that getting mech in dual is easy …
but it is easier than getting cs..or electronics..or electrical…n it is easier to get civil than mech or chemical. coz

as ur performance in ur first year depending on the cgpoa of first a year a cutoff for duals is done..

just an example

that is 8.5+ cgpa of 10 is the cuoff below which if u score u dont get a dual degree option n have to stick to msc

at 8.5 to 8.9…u get civil
8.9 to 9.1 u get chem
9.1 to 9.2 u get mech
9.3 to 9.4 electroni
9.4 to 9.5 electrical
9.6+ comp

so if u earn these much in ur first year u might get it…..else not

n see it is just an example..the scores may be as low as 7.5+ but i have never heard any senior say that it got lower than that…

so my frnd cross ur fingters for bits but keep other options in hand

I think you have some vested interest in misleading the aspirants for BITS Pilani. Most of the info given by you is not only wrong but patently criminal and you should be convicted u/s 420 of IPC for misguiding with criminal intent to defraud/cause irreparable loss. I don’t know why you are doing this, but GOD is there and he will give you your due deserts.
Anyway, stop your shit blog and just send the poor guys who have asked you for advise mistakenly thinking that you are a Bitsian to the official BITS site for clarification of their doubts.
I am an aspirant for a seat in BITS this year, and after seeing your Blog, I had almost decided to not join BITS {My BITSAT score is 338/AIEEE Rank – 1100/IIT-JEE Rank 3950}. Thank god that I could get better advice from genuine BITSIANS and the faculty of BITS-Pilani who nailed all your lies.

i no most of u r deciding ur branches n so with a few bits seniors we have just discussed n come up with suitable things…but this only is wat seniors at bits think to be rit….it might apply to goa..but certainly not to hyderabad

1 .B.E (Hons) Computer science…or
2.B.E(Hons) EEE( depends on ur interest for students who are more interested in electricals they should prefer it because coz it has one of the best faculty in asia and for students who want a better placement should prefer comp sci because they get better pay than anyother branch in bits)
3.B.E(Hons) Electrical& instrumentation (Has great scope in higher studies has only few courses differnt frm EEE)
3.B.E(Hons) Mechanical (100% placements easy course interesting also….and now a days da placemnts rock )
4.B.E(Hons) Chemical(Now a days placements are very good…and if the trend continues…probably Chemical engineering avg will be higher than Computer Science engineering
5.8.B.E(Hons) Civil
6.M.Sc(Tech) Information Systems(students who are more interested to enjoy life but still get a better pay than most other engineering degrees should prefer this.But students have to consider that this is not an engineering degree its just a substiute for comp sci without an engineering degree with very good placements)

@hareendra You sent the form quite late as the last date for receiving the form at pilani was 30th june, and it takes some days to reach there, but if your marks are above the cut off for 1st iteration, then you must contact the Admissions office immediately!

@priyaranjan CONGRATS! CS at goa is fine but if you want pilani, you may get EEE there, for CS u will hav to wait till 22nd july.
@If you dont have other options, you can pay the fee, but u may not get the branches of your choice, if you work harder in the 1st year then life may be smoother for you.Anyways, 90% of the fee is refundable.

With a 259 in Bitsat I have applied for being waitlisted. Unfortunately I did not fill the FBS form reqd for Msc(Hons) Biological Sciences but I have opted for all the other Msc courses. Can I hope for an Msc at Hyderabad in the 2nd,3th,4th or even the 5th iteration??

@ishan Environmental engg at ismu has no scope. ECE at BITS hyderabad has 100 times more scope than ismu environmental engg. Anyways, u will get a better branch in the next iteration.

my pref. was in following order

i was unaware of sliding up rule so made such a huge mistake omiting the duals. doyou think i stand any chance in next iteration. tell me should i wait for 22nd or prepare afresh( bits is my last hope).

@vijay you will definitely get goa mech, leave the rest to God.

@Sukrit since last year, the fall in marks for engg courses was 26(i.e.304 to 278), so do you expect something similar this time??
As far as I know, somebody getting 287 has got M.Sc. course for engg….So, a fall of 25-26 marks approximately, after 4th iteration, can lead to around 261 marks for the final cut off for engg. courses…isn’t it?

But since it is a dual degree, it doesnt matter.

@rajul Look..since 600 seats have been increased in the IITs and 600 seats have been increased in BITS(due to BITS Hyderabad), so the difference b/w first and second iteration will be of around 20 marks at least for each branch…now, the fall in the marks from second to fourth iteration will be around 6-8marks…hence, the net difference will be around 26-28 marks till the end of the iteration process.I have a score of 264 and am hoping to get M.Sc. course at any of the BITS campus.

@tejdeep u wont get msc physics at any campus.But msc biological sciences is basically bio-engineering and u have a chance of getting b.e in the 2nd year. it is also a dual degree.
@tapan Are u sure someone getting 287 has got something this year?? and which branch?? which campus?? Plz dont worry, 22 hrs are left for everything to be crystal clear.

@sukrit my friend’s friend has got M.Sc. economics at goa campus with 287 marks. Also, are you sure that the cut off last year was 304 for the first iteration and 278 for the last iteration?

@anand…thank u for sharing a secret info with all of us. But I think that the cut offs for the succeeding iteration will be decided on the basis of students leaving BITS who have already qualified in the first and the second iterations. So, how can one say that cut offs will fall by only 7-8 marks eventually?
Last year, there was a drop of 26 marks for engg courses from the first to the last iteration, as said by Sukrit.

i think you should wait for all the iterations before dropping out. As shailen says, even I think that the cut offs should fall to around 260.

@shailen yes, I can afford to miss a week of jaypee and am curious to know the results on 22nd july. If the cut off falls by 6-7 marks on 22nd july, then after all iterations, it can definitely fall by 3-4 marks more.

hi!friends. the countdown is nomore for the 3rd iteration where some got better streams and some will got confirmation or allotment of streams. but for me the waiting will never end. actually i had no idea of bits. m.sc course, so i had applied only for B.E and m.sc(tech)info sys.hence i think the bits people should declare a full stop for me. any way what else can i expect out of horrible 260 marks. i am so depressed. in dce also my rank is beyond 1600. though my parents have paid the fees for counseling , but all the seats will be filled much before my date of counseling.the last hope left is ip university which also has a high demand for the delhi students. more over the three good colleges surajmal, agrasen and bharti bidyapeeth are complete. i don’t know which is best in quality next to these. ofcourse i will attend the counseling just to find out that GREAT GOD has kept a BIG BITTER( not better) surprise for me.

@annie msc tech infosys is rockin!!!companies consider it equal 2 a cse degree!! in btech cse u study hardware part & in infosys d software part of cse!! every msc hons student is almost assured of a btech degree!!it is a rare case wen someone doesn’t get a btech degree!!! but 4 msc tech students 2 get a dual u need 2 b in d top 10% of ur campus!!!but as i said wid msc tech infosys u don’t require a dual!!it has excellent placements!!
since u cannot b assured of a seat in bits,i advice u 2 go 4 ip univ!!!

My score is 291. And I got offered BE Mechanical at BITS Pilani, Goa Campus.

hey friends…there is a good news for those who have scored 260 or above…in the fifth iteration, the expected fall in the cut off is about 5 marks…this is because of three reasons:
1)the trend in bits is that the cut offs fall the maximum in the last iteration,which is the fifth iteration
2)those who have been selected for the hyderabad campus, they are required to report on 8th august, even those who were selected in the first iteration are also required to report on 8th august only…so, there will be a lot of drop-out cases for hyd campus
3)the last date to report at NITs was 28th july…so those who were selected in hyd but have reported at NITs, will create space for other students…

so don’t kill ur hopes…keep ur fingers crossed…and don’t forget that if needed, 6th iteration will also be done

look…doing a dual and dropping out are eouivalent…only if u manage a good college after dropping out…look, it is not difficult at all to crack bitsat 2009…it isn’t too tough…but u should be determined…and its not like if u don’t get bits or iit or dce, then u can’t earn or something like that…but yes, everybody loves these institutes…and since u have another chance, then y not use it???

one more fact that i’ll provide:
u know that 85% students selected in IIT are droppers…amazed na???
hmm…thats rite…85% are repeaters…so, keep faith in urself and be determined now…u’ll definitely end up with a BE course next yr in BITS…so, u’ll pass out along with those who will do duals…

let me give u the complete info. I was born in ajmer in rajasthan…but only born there…i have lived all my life in delhi…delhi has been my home…i’ve studied in delhi as well, but cud not get into dce…so, i cannot persue my higher studies at delhi…i’m feeling very bad for this…
now luk…u have performed absolutely well this year…
luk dear, IP and BITS cannot be competed…BITS is far -far better…even the best college of IP i.e. the university campus itself stands nowhere if compared to BITS…but u r rite…B.Tech does not matter when u have an MBA degree…but luk, if u do B.Tech from a good place, then ur aptitude will rise…and thus, u may clear CAT and get into the IIMs…getting into IIMs is even difficult than getting into IITs…u know y???this is bcoz only those students can give IIT-JEE exam who have studied science in XI and XII…but CAT can be given even by those who just have a mere BA graduation degree…so,to get admn in any good college for MBA, u need to have a good aptitude, which is possible when u study with the best students in India…i’m not stating that the one who studies in a college of IP univ. cannot clear CAT, but I am saying that the surroundings and circumstances matter too much…just take an example-if u had just studied for CBSE board,u may not have got 1600 rank in DCE, or 261 in BITSAT-2008…u need coaching for IIT, and coaching from a good institute and a good faculty…just in the similar manner,its not necessary that u cannot clear CAT if u study in IP, but its just that if u study in one of the best colleges in India, then u have far better chances of getting into the IIMs…and that will really count…
ok…u want to compare bits dual will IP-see, name alone is heavy…I will definitely pray for u, and if u believe me, I pray for u and KK in the morning, when I pray for myself…I hope I’ll meet u at hyderabad campus and KK too…see, I haven’t met u and KK, but both of u have become one of my best frnds…atleast till 9th august…I dont know whether i’ll be able to surf the net after that or not…
I advise u to drop this year and prepare really hard…I am damn sure that u’ll clear DCE next year…plz don’t join IP, bcoz if u do that, then u’ll have no other choice,but to study for ur first year…mind it that its almost impossible to study for entrances along wid college studies…college studies r really tough and if u want to be in delhi, plz give dce next year with full preparations, and u’ll end up with a gr8 branch…believe me…u may even clear IIT…and not to forget, our lovely dream-BITS

one of my frnds has got 264 and did not get selected in bits…its a shame on BITS’ part…atleast they should select all those who have scored 264…they shouldn’t leave out anybody on the same marks…socho uske dil pe kya beet rahi hogi…its really disgusting…absolutely unacceptable…sorry annie, but i think u are wrong…bits has one of the worst selection criteria, i suppose…they kept him waiting for over a month…and gifted him what???…disappointment???

you have no chance in bits if u fall short of the 80% mark. Last year, even those students who failed to get 80% marks in pcm by 1 mark, were rejected, no matter what score u get. But 304 is a very-very good score. You must be getting a very good score in AIEEE as well. Isn’t it?
